An annual MOT test is a legal requirement to enable you to drive any vehicle over 3 years old on the UK public road network.
The MOT test has been designed to ensure your vehicle meets the basic minimum level of safety and road worthiness. We perform various tests on the many systems and components fitted to your vehicle to ensure they meet the required standard.
We carry out Class IV MOT tests to industry standards on all cars and light commercial vehicles.

Your cam belt is a vital component that keeps your engine running in time ensuring pistons and valve train are at the exact positions required at any given moment. Being made of rubber, these degrade and stretch over time, therefore manufacturers’ replacement schedules must be adhered to. Failure to replace these belts and associated components can lead to terminal engine damage and costly repairs. We are fully equipped to replace cam belts and will only use an approved full timing belt kit when performing this service. If you are unaware of your cam belt replacement history or wish to check when it’s due, please call for more information.
A well-maintained braking system can be the difference between avoiding a collision or not. As braking system components and fluids degrade with age and mileage the effectiveness of the braking system decreases.
We offer a full braking system service including replacement of components and fluid changes. We are also able to extend this service to all vehicles that require diagnostic equipment for replacement.
Sometimes your vehicle will alert you to certain faults by showing a warning light on your instrument panel. This could be related to one of the various computerised systems that are fitted to vehicles and in some cases may cause further damage if not resolved. To enable us as a garage to assess these warning lights we have to run diagnostic fault checks using an external computer. Here at Spantec MOT we have multiple diagnostic systems in place and the experience to fully diagnose and repair these faults.
Annual servicing is recommended to help maintain the good health and prolong the life of your vehicle. It will highlight any areas of concern and is more in-depth than an annual MOT. This ensures that you are fully aware of the actual condition of your vehicle and are able to rectify smaller faults before they escalate into bigger problems.
We offer many different service packages that meet manufacturers’ specification using only high quality parts and vehicle specific oils/fluids. At the same time we recognise that usage of a vehicle varies from customer to customer, therefore we only replace service items that are required e.g. when inspecting spark plugs or air filters, if they are still serviceable we will offer you the opportunity to decline replacement. This ensures you are not paying for items that are not required, therefore saving you money. We also offer discounts if combined with your annual MOT.
The clutch system, much like a braking system, has components that degrade with age and mileage. Most clutch failures are due to loss of friction material (similar to the material used on brake pads), this causes the clutch to slip and eventually fail. The second most common failure is due to faults with the clutch release system. When these components fail you will either find it difficult to select gear or in some cases gear selection is not possible.
We carry out full clutch replacements and repairs to the release system on most vehicles.
We all like to keep cool in the summer but please note it’s recommended that you use your vehicle’s air conditioning system in the cold months too (you can still have your heating and air con functioning at the same time). This will ensure that PAG oils contained within the system continue to lubricate vital seals and components. The most common problem with air conditioning systems is that seals can dry out thus leaking the refrigerant gas contained within them. This in turn causes the system to stop working.
We have the facilities to repair most air con faults and refill the all-important oils and refrigerant gas to manufacturers’ specification.
